HUNTER
Reginald Watson

January 14, 1938
- March 17, 2017

It is with the utmost sadness that we announce the passing of Reg Hunter. Our dear husband, dad, and Grandpa died March 17, 2017 at Red Deer Regional Hospital. Reginald Watson Hunter was born, along with his twin brother Ronald, on January 14, 1938, the 8th of 10 children born to John and Grace Hunter. He was raised on ‘Tween Creek Farm in the Michichi-Delia area and attended Starland public school about a mile from the farm. He is pre-deceased by his parents, John and Grace Hunter, brothers Doug, Ken, Art, Wesley (Jiffy), Ron and sister Mabel Wayne. Dad’s first job was helping to pave Highway 9 and he continued to work as a farm hand in the area until he started apprenticing at an auto body shop in Drumheller in 1957, becoming a journeyman in 1961. He met Darlene McKenzie, in 1954 and the two married on Valentine’s Day in 1958. To this union, three children were born: Lorna, Perry and Chris. The family moved to Stettler in 1963 where Reg worked as an auto body mechanic until he opened his own Reg’s Auto Body in 1967. In 1977, Reg sold the auto body business to Stan Brennan and built a new building for his new venture, Stettler Muffler. While still operating the muffler shop, Reg saw the need for a self-storage business in town. He purchased a couple of used Atco trailers and started renting space behind the muffler shop. The storage business was so successful, that in 2005, he opted to sell the muffler shop and “retire” to expand Stettler Mini Storage which he operated seven days a week until he fell ill. Dad took an active interest in municipal affairs and served the community for many years as a Lion’s Club member. He loved nothing more than his curling afternoons, family golf or fishing excursions, a good practical joke, and just chatting with friends and strangers on his daily walk to the post office. He enjoyed a good nap in front of the T.V. with his beloved cat. He spent many an hour helping mom maintain their large yard and garden pond which he took great pride in. Dad was first and foremost, a family man. He leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years, Darlene (Butch); children Lorna (Allen) Piche of Stettler, Perry (Diane)Hunter, and Chris (Andy) Metzger of Red Deer; grandchildren Darci,Stephanie, Amy, Megan, and Kelli; one brother, Harold (Amy) of Olds; t wo sisters, Lorraine (Doug) Stanger of Stettler and Muriel Kingcott of Olds; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and business associates. Funeral service will take place at Stettler Funeral Home on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to STARS or a charity of your own choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stettlerfuneralhome.com Stettler Funeral Home &

Dear Mom:
I know you would have liked to stay longer than 87 years to enjoy your great grandchildren, Hailey, Reid and Lyndsey. They will never know how much joy they brought you and how you endured the pain of cancer just so you could see them a few more times! You also leave behind your last surviving sibling, Dorothy (Farrell), daughter Marcene, me, and your grandchildren and their partners; Blair (Amy), Joel (Jacci) and Keith (Delaney). I will be forever grateful for your help in raising my children! Now you have joined Daddy (Melvin) and you can get back to laughing and reminiscing with the gang! You were humble, outgoing, and friendly and always willing to help. You will be missed at the Lodge where you happily made your home the last 10 years; kidding around with staff and showing them with such pride the pictures of the kids on your tablet! We will have a celebration of your life April 24th, Monday, at 3:00pm at the Standard Community Hall. It was important to you to support the community, as a tribute to your memory we ask for donations to the new Standard Memory Lane: Village of Standard, Box 249, Standard, AB T0J 3G0.

I will think of you often!

BREMER
Aldred (Al) Leon

April 10, 2017

On Monday, April 10 we lost an outstanding husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and friend when Aldred (Al) Leon Bremer passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Drumheller General Hospital at the age of 83 years. Al is lovingly survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor, three sons Laverne (Margie), Bob (Linda) and Allan (Tanis); three daughters Tracey (Garry), Patricia (Jim) and Ronna (John), 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, his sisters Loretta and Leslie, brother-in-law Richard and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Vera, his eldest grandson Justin, his brother Raymond, and sister-in-law Georgina. Al, or Tub as he was commonly known when he was growing up, lived and completed his schooling in Rowley and Drumheller before working various jobs in the area. In 1954 he signed up for the Royal Canadian Air Force and he and Eleanor moved to Vancouver where they lived with Eleanor’s grandparents before he was accepted into the service. In August 1955 he moved to Quebec for his training before being stationed in Barrie, Ontario. Eleanor joined him in November and on November 25 Al married the love of his life. In 1956 they moved to Bagotville, Quebec where they remained until 1958 when they moved with their two young sons back to Morrin. Over the next 10 years they welcomed four more children – three daughters and a son – to their family. During that time Al worked for E.O. Parry and then in 1961 he started what would become an almost 28 year career with the M.D. of Starland. He built roads across the M.D. of Starland earning the respect of all who worked, or had dealings, with him. Al was an avid sports enthusiast who curled, played ball, loved watching his boys play hockey and enjoyed his regular pool nights with his “Morrin Pool Shark” buddies. In September 2016 he won a gold medal playing snooker for Zone 2 in the Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games and followed it up with a bronze in the Provincial playdowns. He also enjoyed his bingo, playing cards and his many years farming on the family farm eight miles north of Morrin. His caramel making made him a legend in communities across Alberta where he was often called the caramel man. Al lived a good life but the true testament to the man he was – was the love he always had for his family. He was one of the strongest men we all knew and loved. Guiding us with a firm but strong hand his family always came first and he was fiercely protective of, and loyal to, his wife, children and grandchildren but also his friends. He was a role model, mentor and hero to many and will always remain in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held to honour the memory of Al on Saturday, May 20 at 2 p.m. in the Morrin Community Hall. The family wants to thank Dr. Kuschke, Barb Trumpour at the Drumheller Associated Physicians Clinic and the staff at the Drumheller General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Lategan and the team at Clinic 1 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Al’s name to: Calgary Chapter, Canadian Celiac Association, Suite 14, 2115 – 27 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7M4 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, Box 1242 STN K,

It is with broken hearts and so much sadness we announce the passing of “Bob” Lee at the Drumheller Health Centre on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the age of 61. Bob leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memories his wife Dianne; stepson; Rick (Kyle), mother; Ada, brothers; Ed, and Dave, sisters; Deb, Tari (Gerry), and Roberta (Gerry), brother-in-laws; Dennis (Carol), Darry, and Danny (Edie), sister-in-law; Deb (Al), and many numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbours. Bob was predeceased by his step dad; Don Morrow, grandparents; Lydia and Nelis Morrow and Christine and Robert Goodfellow. At Bob’s request we will have a Celebration of his Life in the summer on August 5, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion at 3:00 p.m. The family would like to thank all of the Drumheller Homecare Team, the Hospice Care Team, and the staff (Doctors, and Nurses) at Drumheller Health Centre, our family doctor, Dr. Gerald Miller and staff of the Innisfail Health Centre, Innisfail, Alberta for the last 5 years for care of Bob’s health. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in loving memory of Bob to the Royal Canadian Legion, Drumheller, Alberta. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
